The Pocket Club Tour - Ash Soan and Neal Wilkinson

Yamaha's new Pocket Club drums look and sound amazing. Rich tones, stunnign finishes and......ok. The focus of this event for me was nothing to do with the drums. Ash Soan and Neal Wilkinson are two of the busiest session drummers in the country, and incredibly underrated in my opinion.
These guys came out together, played drums together, took untold amounts of questions and kept the same message throughout......simplicity is NOT stupidity.

It was hugely refreshing to go to a clinic and come away knowing that you could have also played every single note. Not only that  but they were portraying a great message to young drummers (the right message in my opinion).

For drummers like myself, who are slightly "challenged" when it comes to the faster chops, it gave added hope that you can have amazing careers playing simple grooves with feel. And feel they did. You could physicallyn see the grooves they were creating through their movement as they played.

All in all an incredible night. Please check out some of the promo footage here.

Welcome.....

Welcome to my Bloggy website thingy. I have finally conformed and am now going to try my hand at blogging (which is one letter away from my other career, blagging).
I have decided to set up this space for many reasons.
1) It will serve as a diary of my continuing exploits as an unsuccessful yet immensley talented musician.
2) It will be a place where you, the reader, can come for advice, life lessons and genreally learn how not to do it. (You can also hire me as a professoinal musician if you want!)

This next year is going to be full of changes for me. Family changes, musical changes, career directions and new focuses in life. I would like to share these experiences with you in the hope you find them both amusing and somewhat inspiring.

I shall also write the odd review of an event or product that i feel is particularly amazing (especially geeky drum shizzle), and i will also post the odd video or lesson for those of you that like drumming in the hope you may find something remotely useful. Anyway here goes............
